Chic Mamas Do Care Wynberg

Our Head Quarters and signature shop is located in Wynberg. This is our ‘Mother Ship’ and our biggest shop to date. We moved here in January 2017 and we are loving the central position, visibility and lots of parking across the road.

Once a month, we host a Swap4Charity party here, normally it is on a Saturday from 10am to 2pm and also a big 1/2 price SALE monthly, a favourite amongst our loyal supporters. Great bargains to be found on those days!

For upcoming events, please check out our new CALENDAR!

Meet Caron Auret,
Manager of Chic Mamas Do Care, Wynberg

I have been with Chic Mamas since 2018. I joined because of the vibrant and infectious energy which motives me to volunteer.
My late godmother once said some wise words, when I was discussing volunteering with her, she said – ‘don’t look for a charity, the right one will find you’ and that’s exactly what happened.

I have been supporting The Butterfly Art Project for years and I also taught in Vrygrond, so it was just perfect when you crossed my path. The motivation to apply to manage a store was an opportunity to express my creative self in a more challenging way and hopefully bring a new slant to an already successful business.

One of the bonuses of working more often is making more contact with customers and being able to establish a special relationship with individuals. I have also found that Chic Mamas is a safe place for women to share some of their anxieties, joys or lack of self esteem and we as volunteers have the power to change those, just by listening or encouraging someone to try on something they would never have dreamed of trying – so rewarding and simple!

What is Swap4Charity?

Our Swap4Charity is designed as a fundraising tool. Please don’t expect to receive a huge amount for your items, rather a small contribution and a ‘thank you note’ for bringing your clothing in. You receive some TOKENS for your 4-6 items you bring on a Swap4Charity day. We are looking for mainly ladies clothing, but branded man and kiddies clothing also welcome. The majority of our items are ladies, so that is why we are looking for your no longer wanted, fashionable pieces in clean and good condition. Everything from Woollies upwards, we say…. Which means that quality is key, cheap and cheerful clothing which are bought in larger department stores are welcome, but rather as a donation.

We always go with the current season! Please check in with us if you are not sure what season we are looking for at a given Swap.
When you receive your TOKENS for your items, then you can use these TOKENS at any of our shops, most days. The only days TOKENS cannot be used are the big 1/2 PRICE SALES once a month.

TOKENS don’t expire, they come in R50 and R100 nominations and act like cash.( Please note, that they cannot be exchanged to cash)
We hope you will come and experience the fun we have at our Swap4Charity events… such great way to get new ‘green’ clothing, get something back for yours and raise funds for great causes! Did we mention the environmental benefit above all?

Come, join us at our next Swap4Charity!

Keep shining beautiful one,
the World needs your Light.

Projects We Support

True-North
Early Childhood Development

True North is a non-profit organisation, that is pioneering Early Childhood Development (ECD) initiatives within marginalised communities.

Vicky Kumm and her team are transforming the lives of thousands of children in Vrygrond. It is the oldest fisherman village of Cape Town, now home to over 42 000 people with very few facilities. Growing from looking after 4 pre-schools, now the project supports 32 different learning facilities within the wider area, including Overcome. Vicky has our full support, we are very happy raising funds for such an incredible and visionary organization over the years!

Butterfly Art Project

The Butterfly Art Project was founded in October 2010 with the vision to encourage creativity and healing through art.

Angela Katschke is a qualified therapist who is doing magic with her team and volunteers. It is very traumatic to live in a real township environment and many of the young children are suffering on a daily basis. Angela grew her project out of her home and now, she helps thousands of kids in the very first free-standing art therapy building in SA located at Capricorn Primary School. We are very happy supporting her efforts and being part of her dream; raising healthy, fully rounded happy individuals!

The LifeMatters Foundation

The LifeMatters Foundation was established in 2002 by Meadowridge Baptist Church to serve the youth of the greater Constantiaberg area.

They provide learning support to children in the field of literacy, numeracy, counselling, mentoring and a teenage awareness camp that we have proudly supported for years. Currently 368 learners receiving literacy support across 5 schools and 60 learners receiving numeracy support across 2 schools.

Trained volunteers work with learners at an individualised pace and we see improvements of up to 65% after only 6 months of support.

Wordworks Literacy at
Capricorn Primary School

They are situated in an area known as Vrygrond, one of the most impoverished ‘townships’ in Cape Town.

The children who attend the school have countless battles to face on a day to day basis, including but not limited to, hunger, abuse, violence, drugs and alcohol, not to mention taxi wars and land protests.

This combined with the multiple languages spoken in the area can make the classroom environment very challenging for even the most accomplished teacher and reading and writing support becomes crucial and is needed by more than 50% of the children.

Earthchild Project
Winter Holiday program

Earthchild Project is a Non-Profit Organisation operating in disadvantaged schools in Cape Town, South Africa.

Working with children and teachers their educational programmes focus on the environment, health and life-skills. They teach practical skills such as yoga, mindfulness & organic gardening to over 3500 children and 300 teachers.

Earthchild Project aims to inspire a new generation of healthy, confident and conscious young leaders.

Chic Mamas has specifically contributed to their Winter Holiday program.
