Chic Mamas Do Care Wynberg

Our Head Quarters and signature shop is located in Wynberg. This is our ‘Mother Ship’ and our biggest shop to date. We moved here in January 2017 and we are loving the central position, visibility and lots of parking across the road.

Once a month, we host a Swap4Charity party here, normally it is on a Saturday from 10am to 2pm and also a big 1/2 price SALE monthly, a favourite amongst our loyal supporters. Great bargains to be found on those days!

Meet Kathy,
Manager of Chic Mamas Do Care, Wynberg

I am the longest serving member of the team other than Abigel. I was initially involved as a volunteer, then became a Trustee and have now taken over Management of our Cape Town shop in May 2021. It has been an incredibly exciting & fulfilling journey for me and by playing so many different roles I have grown with Chic Mamas over the years.  I have learnt so much in my time, not only about the actual running of the business but also about the planning and structure of what makes our mission sustainable and successful.

I work with a dedicated & competent team of volunteers & believe wholeheartedly in building a happy work environment, keeping our volunteers involved, motivated & excited about the time they spend in the shop.  Each of us offer something a little different to the business and it’s been important to recognise that. By doing this we make up a great team of different skills & passions. I feel my relationship with our staff is a positive, relaxed, yet organised and responsible one.

Many of our customers over the years have become friends. Some of my happiest times are in the shop chatting to customers, finding something special for them to wear, sharing news of a project we are supporting or just listening to their stories. The support from our customers is what keeps us going & I am absolutely dedicated to keeping them happy, excited & coming back for more.

At Chic Mamas we have created the perfect model to be involved, contributing in so many ways to the betterment of our youth and our world, every donated t-shirt counts or every hour volunteered, no one keeps a score card we just want you to be part of the change.

Chic Mamas has been the perfect fit for me, it covers all the bases that make me a very happy and fulfilled South African.

What is Swap4Charity?

Our Swap4Charity is designed as a fundraising tool. Please don’t expect to receive a huge amount for your items, rather a small contribution and a ‘thank you note’ for bringing your clothing in. You receive some TOKENS for your 4-6 items you bring on a Swap4Charity day. We are looking for mainly ladies clothing, but branded man and kiddies clothing also welcome. The majority of our items are ladies, so that is why we are looking for your no longer wanted, fashionable pieces in clean and good condition. Everything from Woollies upwards, we say…. Which means that quality is key, cheap and cheerful clothing which are bought in larger department stores are welcome, but rather as a donation.

When you receive your TOKENS for your items, then you can use these TOKENS at any of our shops, most days. The only days TOKENS cannot be used are the big 1/2 PRICE SALES once a month.

TOKENS don’t expire, they come in R50 and R100 nominations and act like cash.( Please note, that they cannot be exchanged to cash)
We hope you will come and experience the fun we have at our Swap4Charity events… such great way to get new ‘green’ clothing, get something back for yours and raise funds for great causes! Did we mention the environmental benefit above all?

Come, join us at our next Swap4Charity!

Keep shining beautiful one,
the World needs your Light.

Projects We Support

True-North
Early Childhood Development

True North is a non-profit organisation, that is pioneering Early Childhood Development (ECD) initiatives within marginalised communities.

Vicky Kumm and her team are transforming the lives of thousands of children in Vrygrond. It is the oldest fisherman village of Cape Town, now home to over 42 000 people with very few facilities. Growing from looking after 4 pre-schools, now the project supports 32 different learning facilities within the wider area, including Overcome. Vicky has our full support, we are very happy raising funds for such an incredible and visionary organization over the years!

Butterfly Art Project

The Butterfly Art Project was founded in October 2010 with the vision to encourage creativity and healing through art.

Angela Katschke is a qualified therapist who is doing magic with her team and volunteers. It is very traumatic to live in a real township environment and many of the young children are suffering on a daily basis. Angela grew her project out of her home and now, she helps thousands of kids in the very first free-standing art therapy building in SA located at Capricorn Primary School. We are very happy supporting her efforts and being part of her dream; raising healthy, fully rounded happy individuals!

The LifeMatters Foundation

The LifeMatters Foundation was established in 2002 by Meadowridge Baptist Church to serve the youth of the greater Constantiaberg area.

They provide learning support to children in the field of literacy, numeracy, counselling, mentoring and a teenage awareness camp that we have proudly supported for years. Currently 368 learners receiving literacy support across 5 schools and 60 learners receiving numeracy support across 2 schools.

Trained volunteers work with learners at an individualised pace and we see improvements of up to 65% after only 6 months of support.

Earthchild Project

Working with children and teachers their educational programmes focus on the environment, health and life-skills. They teach practical skills such as yoga, mindfulness & organic gardening to over 3500 children and 300 teachers.
