Chic Mamas Do Care Jozi
October 2021, finally we moved into our super slick Linden shop in the heart of Linden! We are loving the location and the community responded so wonderfully to us. With regulars and loyal supporters, we are able to raise much needed funds for the first 2 projects we selected carefully.
Our volunteer team is growing and Karen our shop manager is super dedicated and passionate about helping the most needy children. This shop only sells ladies garments currently, but if you wish to donate other items, we will distribute them to communities in need.
We have regular 1/2 Price Sales and a Swap4Charity once a month, please check our CALENDAR for the next dates.
Thank you to all of our donors, our stock is beautiful and ever changing. We are so grateful!
Meet Karen Harvey,
Manager of Chic Mamas Do Care, Jozi
I am 56 years old, an only child, a mom of 3 children, a wife for 25 years, and Grandmother to 4 grandchildren.
I am crazy about anything creative, this is where I like to escape to, where I find my peace.
My path crossed with Chic Mamas approximately 5 years ago. I immediately fell in love with their compassion and their passion for GIVING to projects which support children and education.
I am wild about clothing, people and giving of my time wherever possible, which puts me in a place of loving my position as the Manager for Chic Mams Jozi at our Linden store.
Being at the shop, training and rostering volunteers, going through donations of clothing, pricing and steaming the garments, styling the mannequins, taking pics of special items for marketing purposes and most of all being able to be part of donating funds each and every month to our projects, never feels like WORK, it feels like an honour and a privilege, for which I am incredibly grateful.
My first career was that of a professional dancer, over 25years. I trained in Checetti Ballet and went on to dance professionally in many styles, including, tap, modern, jazz, Latin etc. I studied Drama at The Rita Maas drama school, in Cape Town.
I was fortunate in having many wonderful opportunities through my career, as well as much travel.
My second career was that of a Pre School teacher, which I did for 9 years running an Eco friendly Pre School in the country town of Magaliesburg, where we have our farm.
Did I mention I am passionate about children?
I produced the primary school productions for Woodland school over a ten year period and taught dance, which the school did as a subject.
I am always grateful for everything in my life!
Keen to see what’s available in our
Jozi online shop?
Why is there so much suffering in our World? Because compassion is not revealed or manifested fully…

Projects We Support
The Cradle of Hope
The Cradle of Hope is situated in an impoverished neighbourhood, on the West Rand of Gauteng.
They run a Pre School for 60 vulnerable children, who attend daily, where they are educated, nourished and fed.
They are taught each day by compassionate, caring teachers, and can look forward to a brighter future than what they have experienced thus far.
Chic Mamas Jozi takes pride in supporting this worthy cause, ensuring that the Pre School, has the materials, teachers, food and needs which they have in order to make Education a reality to these little people.
Dayspring
Children’s Village
The majority of the children who have been educated and cared for by Dayspring, have had their lives transformed and have become productive contributors to the economy.
Many were the first to finish high school and to attend University. We desire to see many such places planted to provide love and security to at-risk children in rural Africa.
Daypsring continues to intervene in the lives of at-risk children through Christian Education and care. We desire to grow in capacity in order to reach more children in need of our care and see lives transformed and the cycle of poverty broken in their lives.
Friends of Hope
On Monday 16th September , the Friends of Hope Foundation , one of our new beneficiaries ,took our team of volunteers to visit 2 of the schools that our funding supports.
The buzz of excitement was exhilarating. The experience was heart warming , moving and left a lasting impact. Our team was able to see, first hand the fruits of their labour, giving of their time and serving for the common good.
We are all able to make a difference and change a child’s life. We are doing it at Chic Mamas by Reducing , Reusing and Recycling clothing in our beautiful shops. Our Ladies are energised to SELL SELL SELL so we can PAY PAY PAY and improve the lives of the children in our Early Childhood Development Projects.
